Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Brokenlink, the website at brokenlink.io, and the application (together, the "service"), operated by Global Pioneers, 132 County Route 49, Slate Hill, NY, 10973.

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to bind that company, and "you" means that company.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your personal information and forms part of this agreement.

What Brokenlink does

Brokenlink is an automated link monitoring service. You add URLs to a project, and we request each one on a recurring schedule — roughly every 24 to 48 hours — and record what the destination returns. When a link starts failing, we notify you by email, by Slack, or both, depending on the settings on your account.

The checking schedule is a target, not a guarantee. Check timing depends on queue depth, the responsiveness of the sites being checked, and the health of our infrastructure, and we may change how often checks run.

Your account

You need an account to use the service. You must give accurate information, keep it current, and be at least 16 years old. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your password secure — tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

If you sign in with Google, your access to Brokenlink depends on that Google account. Losing access to it may mean losing access to your Brokenlink account.

Free trial

New accounts start with a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required to begin, and the trial gives you the full feature set of the plan you selected.

When the trial ends, monitoring stops unless you have started a paid subscription. Your data is not deleted at that point — your projects, links, and history stay in your account, but every link is disabled and no checks run against it until you subscribe. Trials are for evaluation, one per customer.

Plans, billing, and renewal

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, in US dollars, and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices exclude any taxes we are required to collect. The plans and their link allowances are:

Every plan includes every feature — plans differ only in how many links you can monitor. You can change plans at any time from your subscription settings; upgrades and downgrades are handled by Stripe and take effect according to the billing terms shown to you at the time.

Payment details are handled by Stripe, not by us. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend monitoring until the balance is settled. We may change prices, and we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects your subscription.

Link limits

Each plan covers a fixed number of monitored links. The service enforces that limit automatically, and it is worth knowing exactly how, because it affects which links get checked:

• Within your limit. All of your links are enabled and checked on schedule.
• Over your limit. We disable your most recently added links until the number of enabled links is back within your plan. Older links keep running. Disabled links are not checked and will not generate alerts.
• No active subscription. When a trial expires or a subscription ends, every link on the account is disabled until you subscribe again.

Whether a link is enabled is managed by the service, not by you. Upgrading to a larger plan re-enables links automatically once you are within the new limit.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from your subscription settings, which takes you to Stripe's billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access for the rest of the period you have already paid for, and monitoring stops when that period ends.

Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. We do not provide partial refunds for unused time in a billing period, for periods where you did not use the service, or for links that were disabled because they exceeded your plan limit.

Deleting your account is separate from cancelling and is permanent. It removes your projects, links, labels, and check history from our database immediately, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Checking a link means sending a real request to someone's server. That makes some limits necessary. You agree not to:

• Submit URLs you do not own and do not have permission to monitor. If you monitor sites for clients, you are responsible for having their permission.
• Use the service to probe, scan, stress test, or otherwise burden infrastructure you do not control, or to disguise traffic of that kind as monitoring.
• Submit URLs that require our checker to bypass authentication, paywalls, rate limits, or any other access control.
• Monitor content that is unlawful, or that distributes malware, phishing pages, or other harmful material.
• Open multiple accounts, or split links across accounts, to get around the link limit of your plan.
• Resell, sublicense, or white-label the service without our written permission.
• Copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or attempt to derive the source code of the application, or access it by any automated means we have not documented.
• Interfere with the service, circumvent its security, or attempt to access another customer's account or data.

We may investigate suspected violations and may disable links, suspend accounts, or terminate access in response.

Your content

The URLs, project names, labels, and other material you put into Brokenlink remain yours. We do not claim ownership of them and we do not sell them.

To run the service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit that content for the limited purpose of operating Brokenlink for you. In practice this means requesting your URLs from our servers, recording the results, displaying them back to you, and sending alert contents to the email address or Slack webhook you configure. The license lasts as long as the content is in your account and ends when you delete it.

You are responsible for having the right to submit what you submit, and for the destinations you point our alerts at.

Availability and support

We work to keep Brokenlink running continuously, but we do not offer a service level agreement or guarantee uptime. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, for upgrades, or because of failures in infrastructure we depend on.

A missed or delayed check is possible. A destination site may also block, rate limit, or misreport to our checker, which can produce a false result in either direction. Brokenlink is a safety net, not a guarantee that every broken link will be found the moment it breaks.

Support is provided by email at support@brokenlink.io on a reasonable efforts basis, in English.

Intellectual property

The service, including the application, the website, and the Brokenlink name and logo, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for your own business purposes while your account is active. No other rights are granted.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation or compensation to you.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that every broken link will be detected, that alerts will always be delivered, or that results will be accurate for any given URL.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost commissions, lost search rankings, loss of goodwill, or loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the service in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of a third party — including the operator of any site you asked us to monitor.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service at any time by cancelling your subscription or deleting your account.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your payments fail, if your use puts the service or other customers at risk, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any prepaid fees covering the period after termination. Sections that by their nature should survive — content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — survive termination.

Changes to these terms

We are actively developing Brokenlink and may add, change, or remove features. We will not make a change that materially reduces the core monitoring functionality of a paid plan during a period you have already paid for.

We may also update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will notify you by email or in the application before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules, and the courts of New York have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory law in your country of residence.

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the service.
